American Bulldogge

History

Known as a “hybrid” breed, the American Bulldogge can also go by the name of “EnAm Bulldogge”, short for Olde English Bulldogge and American Bulldog. This breed is fairly new and hard to come by. Please note that with “hybrid” breeds, each and ever individual dog will be different in terms of personality, size, weight and training abilities. We can only give you an average or estimate of what to expect based on the two separate breeds and their facts.

Appearance

With males standing at an average of 19-23 inches in height, and females 15-20 inches in height, there is no specific for this breed due to the fact that they are so new, and they can truly be different sizes depending on both male and female ancestors and average size. Weight can average between 60-95 pounds for females and males 75-110 pounds depending on size of parents. Please note that due to this being a “hybrid” breed, their appearance in terms of shape of face, body, tail length, hair and texture of hair, all varies per individual dog. We can only give you an estimate or average for what you can expect. The exact puppy or dog you bring home or adopt may be larger or smaller than these estimated numbers.

Temperament

Generally speaking, the American Bulldogge hybrid should have an overall well temperament. Calm when indoors if they receive enough physical and mental activity each and every day. Expect this breed to be loyal, loving, and protective. As well as slightly stubborn or “hard headed” at times. Recommended for households with older kids, however if raised from a young age around children and other pets, they should be fine. As always, maintain “pack leader” mentality and only ever use positive reinforcement training methods.

Grooming

Daily brushing and bathing when needed. This breed is an average shedder.

Special Notes

Please fully educate yourself about the American Bulldogge and the two breeds it is created by, prior to adding one to your family. Also note that it is highly recommended that you have a properly fenced in yard prior to adding an American Bulldogge to your family, for its wellness and safety. Make sure you are able to fully financially and physically meet the needs of this breed before bringing one home, so you are able to be a “forever” home to your new family member. All dogs originate from wolves (Canis Lupus). Each breed of dog was originally created by mixing different breeds together in an effort to bring forth certain characteristics. Once a breeder has created acceptable “breed characteristics” within their bloodline and these “breed characteristics” have shown to be reliably reproduced in the offspring for three (3) generations, the bloodline may be upgraded from the category of “foundation stock” to “pure-bred”. The same “pure-bred” breed standards vary from different continents, countries, territories, regions, breed clubs, and canine pure-breed registries depending on the goals of their breeders. Dog DNA testing companies can have accurate results for a specific bloodline of a small colony of dogs. However, there are tens of thousands of different bloodlines in the world which have not yet been tested for marker baseline results by Dog DNA testing companies as of 2017. For this reason Dog DNA testing companies do not guarantee the 100% accuracy of their breed lineage results and will also show different marker results for the same pure-bred breed in different continents, countries, territories, regions, breed clubs, and canine pure-breed registries depending on the goals of their breeders.
